diminished beauty

diminshed beauty cleave to the petals of a faded red rose
floating on the smooth subtle waves of crystal blue,
It attempts to evade the hands of time, hanging on to the age of
youth, of summers past, lasting only in the pictures taken…
her glory in sepia, and lingering smells from noses captivated with its’ beauty.

but now captured by the process of which all must live and die
beautiful red becomes a distant memory,
the pride of rising to the sky basking in golden rays,
snatched by the humiliation of fragility.

as the red rose scrolls through time on crystal blue
wilted petals hanging, do you pity diminished beauty?
as you silently gaze on this moment in time,
it asks you……

am I still beautiful?

yup..a rose is a rose. it's the memory of what it stood for that keeps the beauty alive.
